Who saw the movie "garden state" and what did think of it?
I love it. It's one of the few movies I have purchased to watch again and again. Parts of it amuse me so much, and parts of it make me cry. It's sincere and beautiful.

The plot isn't all that original, the movie isn't all that flawless, but "Garden State" has a unique and sincere quality which make it totally differ from other flicks. In short, this movie is "real" and sensational.





Let's not forget about the acting. Zach was lucky enough to have two of the very best young actors starring in his movie: Natalie Portman and Peter Sarsgaard. Especially Nat Portman, her Sam is so lovable that I just want to give her a big huge. Her smile lights up the screen. NP's character and acting are definitely the highlights of "Garden State".





8 out of 10. Very touching.

Reply:I thought it was absolutely brilliant, and to this day it is my favorite movie. Everything from the indie way it was shot, to natalie portman's performance, to the funny but heartfelt and insightful dialogue make it so I fell in love with it. The soundtrack is inescapable and timeless.





Fun fact from the commentary on the dvd- the ending scene where they kiss and a light comes up behind them...TOTALLY not planned, they were filming at LAX and one of the janitor's from the airport passed in front of a motion sensor door, and it opened perfectly on their heads. So cute.

garden state by far...it's more mature...dont get me wrong, elizabethtown is good, but there's a wittiness to garden state

Reply:Elizabethtown is such a dissapointing movie. It would be alright if I knew it were made by a lesser director but it wasn't. It was made by Cameron Crow and I expect greatness from him. Elizabethtown is far from great. Garden State on the other hand is a wonderful beginning for Zach Braff. It's got Natalie Portman and she makes me smile everytime she's on the screen in that movie. So obviously I choose Garden State. I also suggest you watch the Graduate. If you like both of these movies that movie will be right up your alley. Have a nice day!
Reply:Garden State was an alright film but Zach Braff just down right pisses me off and annoys me.





So I would lean towards Elizabethtown, even though I never seen it.
Reply:Elizabethtown. I think it was one of the better roles for both Kirsten and Orlando, and I love the family aspect to it, not to mention the road trip at the end. I've always wanted to do that!

The soundtrack for 'Garden State' is well worth getting, it's got some great songs on it, but if you're just interested in The Shins, you should check out their new album, 'Wincing the Night Away'. It's easily one of the best albums of the year.

I was invited to the local premiere, which Zach Braff actually attended [I live in an area where he has a lot of family, and they - being friends of mine - invited me to the party]. I couldn't go though - now, after seeing the movie and falling in love with it, I REALLY wish I had gone!
