What movie utilized a great soundtrack?

In my opinion, Garden State was a really good movie, but it was definitely enhanced by the soundtrack. Coldplay's "Don't Panic" at the start was a great selection. Then there was the Shins tracks. There were some bands I never heard of, but the music fit well. The best moment was slow motion walking to Thievery Corporation's "Lebanese Blonde". The music made the film better. I think Braff won the Grammy for best film soundtrack. So that's my pick.

Koyaanisqatsi can not be ignored: The film is the soundtrack is the film is the soundtrack is the film... also, the beginning of Koyaanisqatsi was the only "sound" my dog ever strongly reacted to... he came into the room from whereever he was, went right to the TV, stared at it a bit, sniffed, watched it some more, I called him next to me, and he came and watched for a bit, but left when the pace started picking up. The very first notes, there in the silo, always captured his attention...

If you're looking to expand your soundtrack library, Pi, Himmel über Berlin, Koyaanisqatsi, Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now, and Matewan are definite must-haves!

I would also have to add "Saturday Night Fever" to that list. The songs work beautifully in the context of the movie, but you can also enjoy the songs independently of it.
Reply:Not that it is the best film created but let's face it - Top Gun would be nothing without it's soundtrack.





Garden State is by far the best soundtrack to go with a film- it's almost as if they planned the movie around the music.

and as the first person suggested, my wife also thinks that Dirty Dancing has the best soundtrack ever.

For popular music, I would say Forrest Gump and Jerry Maguire both did a really good job of picking good songs that went with the movie.
