Who in the state do I contact? (for a communitty garden)?

I want to start a community garden over the summer. I live in Utah, there is a storm drain field, like if we had a flood and the regular drains were full the water would drain into the field, it's in my neighborhood. We don't have floods over the summer so all the grass does is sit there and burn. I want to turn it into a community garden, who would I contact to do this? It would only be temporary like over the summer time. What representative, or like the governor or what?

Who in the state do I contact? (for a communitty garden)?
Well it depends on what exactly you want to contact someone for...do you want permission to use the land? Are you looking for public funds (if so, good luck, you may be better off looking for private sponsors try local businesses and offer to put a sign in the garden stating that it was donated or funded by****)? The purpose of your request is critical to ensuring that you contact the correct representative. State and Local governments all across the country are critically understaffed and underfunded, unfortunately. This means that there are NOT enough people and rarely is there enough money to respond to everyones' requests properly. That being said, your efforts are noble and should be recognized. If more people reached out to try and make the world a more beautiful place (one garden at a time!), things would no doubt be better for all. Try the website listed below. To ask for permission, call the city clerk and ask who owns the land and from there. To ask for $, I would just write up a proposal and take it to local businesses because the state government is cutting education and most likely would not have $ to offer you for a nice garden (no matter how great it will look). A local project like that would be better suited for the city government and I would contact the city clerk where you want to do the garden. Good Luck, and keep th positivity going strong, we all need that!
