I asked one like this yesterday and the answers were very interesting but I should have asked what state or province or Country? is your garden in cuz I live in Wyoming and it has not rained here all of July and only 10 hundreds in June so the only green things are lawns and gardens. Well I am getting cucumbers and tomatoes and should have beans by the end of the week. Also will get second crop of rubarb (Yum)
Where is your garden and what is it producing??
I live in South Asia, along the equator. I have lemon grass, banana, papaya, winged bean, string bean, basil, citronella, indian borage, money plant, chiku (local fruit), palms, white ginger, blue ginger, yellow ginger, pandan, spinach, pomelo, chilli, eggplant, curry leaf in my garden.
Am trying to grow tomato (not doing well), and mango, guava
Reply:I live in GA, and it has been dry, humid, and hot down here. I have a container garden, and it's mainly some flowering plants, ivy, and one hot pepper plants. It's produced 6 hot peppers though! Hoorah!
Reply:My garden is in Oregon. I got a late start with it because I was busy getting married and honeymooning when it would have been the right time to plant a garden. So as of now I am not yet harvesting anything. But my tomatoes are setting on fruit and doing really well, and also my beans should be blossoming pretty soon. My peas and zucchini and cucumbers are growing well too, so I should harvest some from them. I don't have a very big garden, but it has been lots of fun. I also planted lettuce and spinach, and it started to grow, but I don't think they get enough sunlight. (It was hard to find enough spaces with enough sun in our little backyard which gets a lot of shade.) Plus, our weather has been pretty crazy. First cool, then REALLY hot, then pretty cool again, now soaring heat again. This was my first time with gardening on my own (I've helped with my parents gardens growing up), so it was kind of a learning experience to see what works and what doesn't and what I need to do differently next time.
Reply:I live in MN. It is hot and humid here. My garden wraps around my house. I am growing hollyhocks, strawberry's, green peppers, Lily's, black eyed Susan, moonbeam etc. We have not had much rain, like every where else. So I water in the early morning, and the plants seem to do find. Until this heat lets up I can't transplant, because it puts the plants in to a severe shock. So I am waiting patiently.
Reply:I'm in Eastern Kentucky. We have had quite a lot of rain actually...My garden has cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans, jalapenos, red and green peppers, corn, sunflowers, pumpkins, cabbage, and watermelon. I'm a little jealous...I want rhubarb, it makes the best preserves!
Reply:tomatoes i get
Reply:It's summer here in NY state but we've had a rainy summer where it's cold one day and blistering hot the next.
My veggie garden has the following: Asparagus (gone now), brocolli, cauliflower, corn, carrots, potatoes, onions, leeks, scallions, tomatoes (cherry, beefsteak, and roma), cucumbers, zucchini, summer (yellow) squash, winter squash, pumpkins, carrots, sweet peppers, hot peppers, eggplant, 3 kinds of lettuce, peas (gone now), green beans, lima beans, brussel sprouts, and a wide variety of herbs.
Reply:I have a garden in northern new jersey... I grow everything:
peas, potatos, lettuce, kale, broccoli, cabbage, beans, tomatos, squash, cucumbers, peppers, onions, garlic, beats, carrots, radishes, parsley, basil, swiss chard, rabb, pumpkins, sunflowers, and probably a few other things I can't remember. We've had a decent year, with a good amount of rain, although its starting to dry out again. I also grow everything organic- no pesticides or chemicals. Growing a garden is a lot of work, but when you taste those delicious vegetables that you grew yourself, its all well worth it!
Reply:Mine on is a side slope near my garage. I am in Wa state and it is 109 here today so the garden is suffering. I have onions, tomato's, melons and some squash currently dying in the heat. No amount of water is doing the trick. Oh well, there is always the fruit stands to go to!
Reply:I'm in NE Ga and I have a back yard with a garden big enough to provide for us now and enough to freeze for much of the winter. I have tomatoes, bellpeppers, corn, cucumbers, squash, polebeans, peas and I have some ornamental miniature gourds and squash. I also have flowers galore.
Reply:My backyard. Columbus, Ohio. It's been pretty good weather - enough rain, I've only had to water twice.
I'm getting peas, chard, lettuce, plums, raspberries, pears, green beans, tomatoes, ground cherries (tomatillio relative), and peppers.
The strawberries have been done for weeks. I harvested garlic and shallots 2 weeks ago.
Coming pretty soon is corn and yellow beets. Will have to wait for my eggplant, squashes, watermelons, cabbage, and potatoes.
Another year for the asparagus (recently started the bed), and 1 or 2 more for the apples and cherries.
