How much of a fine do you get when hitting a highway guard rail?

I was involved in an accident in which i spun out of control and hit the side of a guard rail. The damage was very slight but i was charged 700 dollars for the damages. I'm wondering if there was a fixed amount for hitting a guard rail. This happened in new jersey on the garden state parkway.

How much of a fine do you get when hitting a highway guard rail?
most states will charge you the cost of the fine plus any fees associated with replacing the damaged item; also any labor or other expenses that they deem you to be liable for

700 is EASY..........i've seen worse.
Reply:The FINE is little more than a speeding ticket. The REAL expense is repairing the guardrail. I once had an officer flat out admit the ONLY reason I was given a ticket was because the city could not bill my insurance without the citation. Report Abuse

Reply:thequestion you should be asking yourself is why was I speeding? Most accidents on interstates are speed related so I suggest that you slow down. as for the guard rail I have seen the same sections replaced time and time again, so wise up and slow your *** down, youre lucky you didnt kill someone or yourself
